This Victorian scent bottle originates from the nineteenth century. The piece comprises an emerald green Murano glass body embellished with gold aventurine inclusions and controlled bubbles, paired with a hallmarked sterling silver screw-top lid finished with an engraved foliate scroll design and a blank central reserve. Visible elements include a domed repousse cap, a textured dark green gradient base, and London assay hallmarks stamped upon the silver collar for the year 1884. The vessel measures 10 cm in height and 5.5 cm in maximum diameter. Items of this nature find a practical place in a modern home as a decorative dressing table accessory or a functional display piece upon a bathroom counter. The container safely holds perfume, essential oils, or floral waters while adding period character to traditional or eclectic interiors. Collectors of Victorian silver and art glass will find it a representative addition to existing table displays or vanity setups.

During the Victorian era, portable scent bottles became popular vanity accessories for carrying perfumes and smelling salts. Silversmiths frequently collaborated with glassmakers to produce glass bodies fitted with hallmarked sterling silver tops, often featuring detailed chasing or engraving.

19th-century scent bottles were commonly constructed using hand-blown art glass, cut crystal, or porcelain paired with sterling silver, silver gilt, or gold mounts. Techniques such as aventurine glassmaking inserted metallic flakes into colored glass for decorative effect.

Authentic pieces crafted by Sampson Mordan display official British hallmarks, including the makers initials S.M or S.M & Co, alongside city assay marks such as the London leopards head, a date letter, and the sterling lion passant.

Small antique scent bottles can be displayed on mirrored vanity trays, placed on bathroom shelving, or arranged alongside contemporary glass accessories on a bedroom dresser to add texture and historical detail.

Clean the glass body using a soft microfiber cloth and mild soap, ensuring liquid does not enter the silver collar or mechanism. Silver tops should be polished gently with a dedicated silver cloth to prevent the removal of natural patination.
