FAQs

Neoclassical wall sconces are characterised by symmetry, refined linear forms, and classical motifs inspired by ancient Greek and Roman design, such as arrows, ribbons, and acanthus leaves.

Sconces from this period were commonly cast in solid brass or bronze, featuring hand-chased surface details and finished with gilded or patinated coatings.

Authentic period pieces typically exhibit cast construction marks, natural oxidisation in crevices, period-appropriate mounting plates, and hand-finished decorative details.

Placing a symmetrical pair on either side of a mantelpiece, hallway mirror, or sideboard creates balanced architectural focal points within modern design schemes.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and avoid chemical polishes that can strip original gilding or protective lacquer finishes, preserving the aged patina.
