This 1900 Art Nouveau set includes six Norwegian demitasse spoons made in Bergen by Marius Hammer, housed in a hinged presentation box. The spoons are crafted from silver-gilt and enamel with engine-turned handles and teardrop bowls in grey, light blue, pale green, dark blue, brown and red colours. The open presentation box displays a padded cream silk lining on the inside lid and a black velvet fitted insert holding the cutlery. Each spoon measures 9 cm high, 1.8 cm wide and 0.5 cm deep. This boxed set works well placed on a sideboard top in a home today for display as a collectable piece of flatware.

Guilloche enamel silver spoons feature an engine-turned geometric pattern carved into silver, covered by a layer of translucent glass enamel. Produced predominantly during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these pieces were crafted as decorative luxury tableware for tea or coffee service.

These utensils are constructed from sterling silver or high-grade continental silver, often plated with gold layer to create a silver-gilt finish. The coloured sections consist of vitreous enamel fused to the metal under high temperatures, housed within a fabric-lined protective case.

Authentic pieces carry hallmark stamps indicating silver purity alongside makers marks stamped onto the reverse of the handle or bowl. True guilloche enamel presents a smooth, glass-like surface revealing precise metal engraving underneath, free from modern plastic resin fills.

Display the presentation case open on a sideboard or cabinet shelf to showcase the colourful enamel detail. Alternatively, incorporate individual spoons into a formal tea tray arrangement or modern dining table setting as functional accent pieces.

Washing should be performed by hand using warm water, mild detergent, and a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive sponges or silver polishes on the enamel surfaces. Store the spoons inside their original fitted lining to prevent oxidation and impact damage.
