This Georgian serving spoon is made from sterling silver with a bright silver colour and a polished finish. The item has an Onslow pattern design, featuring a fluted shell-shaped oval bowl at one end and a fully cast Onslow terminal at the other, joined by a long barley twist shank. Engraved feather edge patterns border both the terminal and the lower part of the handle near the bowl junction. The silver surface shows clear hallmarks, with no visible dents, splits or repairs. Measuring 20.5 cm high, 4.5 cm wide, and 2 cm deep, the spoon is an authentic and usable antique flatware piece. It functions practically as a serving implement or as a display item suitable for placement on a sideboard top in an English country house setting.

The Onslow pattern, associated with 18th-century British silversmithing, features a distinctive cast turn-over scroll terminal resembling a curled feather or paper scroll.

Georgian flatware was hand-forged from sterling silver, consisting of 925 parts per thousand pure silver, often combined with cast handles, twisted stems, and chased or fluted bowls.

Authentic items bear official British hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling purity, a makers mark, a town mark, and a specific date letter denoting the year of assay.

Historical silver utensils can be integrated into contemporary table settings alongside modern tableware or presented decorative in glass display cases and table displays.

Wash silver by hand in warm soapy water, dry immediately with a soft cloth, and clean periodically with specialised silver polish to prevent tarnish build-up.
