Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A crystal basket chandelier features concentric metal rings or a wire frame draped with crystal octagons and faceted prisms that taper towards the bottom to form a woven basket shape. Popularised in eighteenth and early twentieth-century French and English designs, these fixtures scatter light through faceted lead glass.

Traditional basket chandeliers feature cast brass or bronze metalwork, often gilded with gold leaf or electroplated to impede oxidisation, supporting lead cut crystal prisms, drops, and faceted beads linked by wire connectors.

Authentic early twentieth-century pieces typically exhibit hand-cut glass or crystal with slight variations, natural patina or oxidisation on cast brass metalwork, and hand-bent wire pins holding the glass droplets in position.

Compact crystal pendants serve as accent illumination in narrow hallways, dressing rooms, or powder rooms, and can be hung in pairs above bedside tables to introduce texture and metallic tone to classic or updated interiors.

Clean the glass droplets using a soft microfibre cloth lightly dampened with a solution of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol, taking care not to strain the wire pins, while dusting the gilded brass frame gently with a dry brush.
