Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early twentieth-century French Chateau style chandelier exemplifies Edwardian lighting design through its distinctive bag structure and refined use of materials. Fabricated from gilt brass and crystal glass, the piece presents a striking combination of gold and clear colour tones. The construction incorporates a decorative brass ring supporting vertical cut glass crystal drops alongside graduated rows of crystal beads, all suspended on three link chains with a single crystal drop positioned at the base. Visible hardware includes a B22 large bayonet fitting and upper suspension links. The structure measures 33 cm in height, 22 cm in width, and 22 cm in depth, with a height excluding the three chains of 23 cm. Suitable for interior placement, this chandelier provides focused ambient illumination when wired into a ceiling point in a hallway, bedroom, or living space. The compact proportions allow the fixture to integrate smoothly into modest spaces while retaining the decorative presence characteristic of period crystal lighting. Maintenance involves standard dusting of the glass prisms and gentle cleaning of the brass elements to preserve the finish.

FAQs

A crystal bag chandelier is an early 20th-century light fitting featuring a brass or copper frame from which cascading strands of cut glass beads and prisms converge downwards into a tapered, bag-like silhouette.

These light fittings typically consist of cast or stamped gilt brass frames adorned with hand-cut crystal or glass octagons, drop prisms, and wire-linked beads.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-poured or hand-cut glass with subtle irregularities, original brass patination, and hand-bent wire connectors linking the individual crystals rather than modern machine staples.

Compact crystal bag chandeliers fit well in lower-ceiling spaces such as entry hallways, dressing rooms, or cloakrooms, where the faceted glass reflects light and creates visual texture.

Regular dusting with a dry microfiber cloth prevents buildup. For deeper cleaning, wipe individual glass drops using a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water and isopropyl alcohol, avoiding direct moisture on the metal wire pins.
