A caddy spoon is a short, specialized utensil designed for measuring loose tea leaves directly from a tea caddy into a teapot, gaining widespread popularity during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

Regency caddy spoons were primarily crafted from sterling silver, featuring die-stamped, cast, or hand-engraved embellishments along with official hallmarks indicating silver purity and origin.

Authentic Regency examples display period British hallmarks, including a makers mark, town mark, the lion passant for sterling fineness, and the monarchs head duty mark relevant to the era.

These small decorative silver pieces are traditionally displayed on a tea tray, placed inside a glass glazed cabinet, or mounted within a framed shadow box display alongside historical tableware.

Maintain silver by gently buffing with a soft microfibre cloth and a non-abrasive silver polish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that strip away natural aged patina.
