Silver trinket boxes gained widespread popularity during the late Victorian and early 20th-century periods, serving as functional decorative objects for dressing tables to hold small items of jewellery and keepsakes.

These items were crafted from solid sterling silver using techniques such as engine-turning to create precise geometric surface textures, with cast feet soldered to the base and fitted hinged lids.

Authentic British silver items display a complete set of official hallmarks, including a makers mark, a purity mark such as the lion passant, an assay office symbol, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

An antique silver box can be styled on a bedside table, dressing table, or bathroom shelf to contain small personal items while adding a reflective metallic tone to modern decor.

To manage tarnish and oxidisation, clean the exterior silver surface gently using a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish, avoiding harsh chemicals and excessive dampness.
