Exhibit Antiques has dated this Amber Glass Flower Vase to the 1930s.
It has a broad flared and lipped rim above a substantial tapering body, with bold wrythen moulding spiralling down the vase and continuing beneath the base, where the ribs converge around a polished pontil.

The pontil bears the acid-etched Edinburgh Crystal E&L mark.
The rich amber colour combined with the strong flowing wrythen form gives the vase a particularly striking appearance and demonstrates the quality of Edinburgh & Leith's decorative glass during the inter-war period.

This vase comes from the Dr Jill Turnbull Collection, assembled as part of Jill's extensive research into the history of Scottish glassmaking. Her research culminated in a number of publications, including From Goblets to Gaslights: The Scottish Glass Industry 1750–2006.

This appears to be a particularly rare form. Despite extensive searching, we have been unable to locate another example of this vase.
