A stunning, fine and impressive antique 3.80 carat Ceylon sapphire and 0.28 carat diamond, 18 carat white gold ring; part of our sapphire jewellery collections.

This stunning, fine and impressive antique sapphire engagement ring has been crafted in 18ct white gold.

The pierced decorated rectangular setting is ornamented with a feature 3.80ct step cut Ceylon blue sapphire, claw set in subtle relief to the centre of the design.

The sapphire is encompassed with twenty pavé set eight cut diamonds totalling 0.28ct, within a rectangular cut-cornered border.

The pierced decorated, elevated ring shoulders integrate with the main setting with a grove design and blend seamlessly with the plain ring shank.

This antique sapphire and diamond ring has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 carat gold.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This antique sapphire cluster ring is excellent quality, set with a stunning natural untreated sapphire displaying fine colour, brilliance and presence.

The well colour matched diamonds display a fine white colour and brilliance.

The ring is an excellent gauge of gold and is in excellent condition.

This 1920s Art Deco ring is fashioned from 18ct white gold, featuring a central octagonal step-cut blue Ceylon sapphire held in claw settings. A geometric halo of twenty pavé-set eight-cut diamonds surrounds the central stone, bordered by milgrain detailing and cut corners. The elevated shoulders integrate into the main setting with a grooved design, meeting a plain shank. The setting measures 1.68 cm in length by 1.35 cm in width, with a height of 7.27 mm. Visible elements include prongs holding the blue central gemstone, milgrain-edged borders on the rectangular frame, and linear grooves along the metal shoulders. The silver-toned metal contrasts with the deep blue of the sapphire and the colourless sparkle of the surrounding diamonds. The piece functions as an engagement ring or statement dress ring, worn on the hand for formal occasions or daily use.

Art Deco sapphire jewellery from the 1920s is defined by bold geometric shapes, clean lines, and symmetrical arrangements. Pieces frequently pair rich blue gemstones, such as Ceylon sapphires, with white metals like platinum or white gold and accentuate edges with fine milgrain work.

Rings from the 1920s were predominantly crafted using platinum or newly developed 18ct white gold alloys. Central coloured gemstones like sapphires, emeralds, or rubies were commonly set alongside old European cut or single cut diamonds.

Authentic Art Deco rings feature hand-carved geometric settings, milgrain borders, and Period-accurate stone cuts such as step cuts or old-cut diamonds. Hallmark stamps indicating metal purity and period maker marks also aid identification.

An antique sapphire ring serves as a focal statement piece that complements both formal evening wear and minimalist modern tailoring. Its cool white gold and deep blue tones integrate easily with contemporary silver or white gold accessories.

Clean the ring using warm water, mild detergent, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from behind the stone settings. Avoid harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners, and store the item in a soft fabric pouch to protect softer stones and metalwork.
