An Art Deco platinum plaque ring from the 1930s featuring a central cushion cut blue sapphire flanked by two large old European cut diamonds in a horizontal linear formation. The rectangular plateaued setting contains sixteen grain set accent eight cut diamonds and four further eight cut diamonds along the shoulders, all enclosed by delicate millegrain borders above a plain ring shank. Visible details include a French import hallmark inside the shank, bright silver metal surfaces, and contrasting deep blue and colourless gemstone tones. This cocktail ring sits flat across the finger to provide a bold architectural profile suited for formal wear at anniversaries, milestone birthdays, or engagements. The piece measures not given in size and is worn on the hand as a distinctive heirloom jewellery item.

Art Deco jewellery from the 1930s is defined by geometric symmetry, clean linear forms, and contrast between coloured gemstones and diamonds. Platinum became the preferred metal for its strength, allowing intricate geometric settings and delicate millgrain edging.

Rings from this era were primarily constructed using platinum or white gold to highlight white diamonds. Central stones frequently featured sapphires, emeralds, or rubies, often arranged in plaque or panel settings with secondary round or baguette-cut diamonds.

Authentic pieces feature geometric proportions, platinum metal hallmarks, and hand-cut stones such as old European or cushion cuts. Settings often include openwork backings, pave arrangements, and precise channel or bezel settings typical of interwar craftsmanship.

An Art Deco sapphire plaque ring serves as a focal statement piece when worn on the index or ring finger. Its geometric layout pairs well with minimalist modern tailoring or evening wear, contrasting clean contemporary lines with historical design elements.

Clean the ring using warm water, a mild dishwashing detergent, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from behind the gemstones. Store the ring in a lined jewellery box separated from other items to prevent diamond facets from scratching adjacent metal or stones.
