Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Edwardian open bookcases dates from 1900 in the Sheraton Revival style, formed of warm brown mahogany with satinwood inlay. Each tall slim piece has a bow front base featuring a single cupboard door with a pale green tassel pull on a key, standing on outswept feet with shaped aprons. The stepped pediment displays fan marquetry decoration in lighter wood, above four tiers of adjustable mahogany shelves filled with vertically stored book spines in green, blue, brown, red, and yellow leather bindings. Measuring 203 cm high by 46 cm wide and 18 cm deep, these narrow bookcases provide upright storage suited for positioning in a traditional gentleman's library or a home study to organise volumes in a compact footprint.

Sheraton Revival furniture, popular in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, emphasizes classical proportions, slim vertical lines, and fine wood marquetry. Common features include fan or sunburst inlays, satinwood banding, and tapered bracket feet.

Cabinetmakers primarily constructed these pieces using solid mahogany or oak for structural stability, covered with fine flame mahogany veneers and inlaid with contrasting timbers such as satinwood and boxwood.

Examine the timber drawer linings, internal shelf adjustment mechanisms, and back panels for hand-planed finishes. Authentic period examples feature precise hand-cut joinery and natural timber shrinkage or oxidisation.

A slender pair of open bookcases functions efficiently when framing architectural features such as a central fireplace, a doorway, or within symmetrical chimney alcoves to maximize vertical storage space.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft microfibre cloth. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing gently along the timber grain, while keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
