This Art Deco engagement ring dates from 1930 and combines a gold band with a silver-coloured platinum top set with clear diamonds. A central 1.03 carat old cushion cut natural diamond sits within a platinum collet featuring an open gallery and a scalloped back-plate. The platinum shoulders take the form of stylised leaf motifs, finished with milgraining and accented by six eight-cut diamonds. The slender 18ct yellow gold shank bears an "18CT PLAT" stamp on the inner surface. The centre stone measures 5.58 by 5.42 mm and the mounting sits 7.3 mm from the finger, with an overall weight of 3.51 grams. This ring functions as a piece of fine jewellery for daily wear as an engagement ring or statement dress ring.

Art Deco diamond rings from the 1930s are characterised by geometric forms, intricate openwork metalwork, and the transition between organic motifs and streamlined architectural lines. Rings from this era frequently features old European or old cushion cut diamonds set in mixed metals such as platinum and yellow gold.

During the 1930s, jewellers commonly used a combination of platinum for the top setting to highlight the white colour of diamonds, paired with an 18ct yellow gold shank. Settings often incorporated hand-carved leaf or scroll shoulders, millegrain edging, and pierced galleries.

Authentic old cut diamonds feature small table facets, high crowns, deep pavilions, and an open culet visible through the top of the stone. Hallmarks stamped inside the band, such as 18CT PLAT, along with hand-worked metal details, confirm the period construction.

A vintage mixed-metal diamond ring pairs naturally with both contemporary yellow gold and platinum bands due to its two-tone construction. Stacking it with slender, minimalist bands allows the historic central diamond and shoulder detailing to remain the focal point.

Clean the ring gently using lukewarm water, mild detergent, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from behind the setting. Avoid harsh ultrasonic cleaners if the settings are delicate, and store the piece separately in a soft cloth pouch to protect the metal from abrasion.
