1900 - 1920
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, fine and impressive antique 1.46 carat diamond ring crafted in 18 carat yellow gold with a platinum setting; part of our 1920s diamond jewellery collection.

This stunning, fine and impressive antique 1920s diamond ring has been crafted in 18ct yellow gold with a platinum setting.

The anterior surface is embellished with a stunning feature claw set 0.56ct Old European round cut diamond, accented with two further diamonds individually claw set vertically to the centre of the design.

The feature arrangement is flanked on either side by a millegrain decorated setting accented with a single pavé set Old European round cut diamond, accentuating the 1920s aesthetic and completing the cruciform design*.

The 18ct yellow gold ring shoulders integrate with the main setting and blend seamlessly with the plain shank.

This ring has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 carat gold and platinum.

This impressive dress ring is supplied with an IDGL diamond grading report certificate for the feature stone, in addition to an IDGL diamond grading report card for the supporting stones.

This timeless ring would make an exceptional gift for a landmark birthday, wedding, significant personal achievement or important life milestone. Combining meaningful symbolism with enduring elegance, a three stone diamond ring has wonderful heirloom appeal and can be treasured and passed down through generations.

* This cross-style design represents the creative flair of the Roaring Twenties, breaking away from standard solitaire or trilogy rings in favour of bold, architectural and dynamic silhouettes.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This impressive antique diamond ring is excellent quality, set with high colour and clarity graded diamonds displaying a fine white colour and brilliance.

The ring is an excellent gauge of gold and platinum, and is in excellent condition.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine vertical 3 stone diamond ring.

This Art Deco dress ring is an antique 1920s piece made from 18ct yellow gold and platinum. The design showcases five old-cut diamonds in a geometric, cruciform cluster arrangement, featuring claw-set and millegrain-decorated settings with a plain shank and integrated shoulders. The gold elements provide a warm yellow tone, while the platinum and stones present contrasting silver-white hues. The setting measures 1.5 cm in width with a height of 5.1 mm, and the ring is a UK size P 1/2 or USA size 7 3/4. This jewellery item is designed to be worn on the hand as a personal accessory, suitable for formal wear or special occasions.

Art Deco diamond rings from the 1920s feature clean geometric arrangements, symmetrical layouts, and contrasting metal settings. Jewellers during this period frequently paired white metals like platinum with yellow gold to accentuate hand-cut diamonds.

Rings from this era were typically crafted using 18ct yellow gold or platinum shanks, combined with old European or mine-cut diamonds. Milgrain borders and claw or grain settings were standard techniques for securing gemstone compositions.

Authentic 1920s jewellery exhibits hand-cut diamonds with distinct faceting patterns, period hallmarks, and crisp geometric metalwork. Wear patterns on the shank and prongs consistent with age also help verify origin.

An antique Art Deco ring serves as a standalone statement piece or can be stacked alongside minimal modern bands. The mixed metal tones allow it to pair seamlessly with both yellow gold and platinum accessories.

Clean the ring gently using warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from behind the stones. Avoid harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners if the settings show signs of historical wear.
