Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian inlaid mahogany revolving bookcase in the gentleman's library style offers a practical storage solution for the home. Rich warm brown tones define the polished timber surfaces, complemented by lighter satinwood geometric inlay on the top panel and a central circular motif. Vertical wooden slats enclose the multiple tiered shelves on all sides, resting upon a mobile base fitted with small castors. Visible details include a visible split across the upper surface and natural grain variations through the polished wood finish. Measuring 96 cm high, 53 cm wide, and 53 cm deep, this compact piece fits easily beside the end of a sofa or within a study. Daily reading material, journals, or small decorative items find a convenient home on the rotating tiers, allowing effortless access from any seated position in a living room or reading corner.

FAQs

Revolving bookcases gained widespread popularity during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods as functional library furniture designed to maximize book storage in compact spaces.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid mahogany or walnut, frequently accented with decorative satinwood inlay, marquetry, and an internal cast iron swivel mechanism.

Authentic pieces feature heavy cast iron or steel revolving hardware underneath, hand-cut joinery, original brass castors, and period-correct marquetry or string inlay along the top surface.

A revolving bookcase works effectively as a functional side table positioned next to an armchair in a reading nook, study, or living area.

Maintain the timber by applying a natural beeswax polish along the grain, keep the unit away from direct heat sources, and occasionally lubricate the central metal swivel mechanism.
