Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century English Georgian style footstool is rendered in warm brown walnut and stands on cabriole legs with pad feet and carved shell motifs. The cushioned seat is upholstered in a pink floral textile. Walnut timber shows a rich medium-dark polish across the frame, while the legs display intricate scrollwork at the knees. Measuring 44 cm high, 59 cm wide and 59 cm deep, this piece provides compact seating. Positioned in an English country house interior, this stool suits placement at the foot of the bed or as an accent seat in a living room. The carved details and patterned textile complement traditional and period schemes alike.

FAQs

Georgian style furniture, originating in 18th-century Britain, is defined by symmetrical proportions, graceful cabriole legs, and classical motifs such as shells and acanthus leaves.

Makers predominantly utilised dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, and oak for structural frames, combined with hand-woven tapestry or woven fabrics for upholstery.

Authentic period pieces display hand-carved details with minor variations, period-appropriate mortise and tenon joinery, and natural patination across exposed wood surfaces.

Positions such as the foot of a bed, an empty fireplace hearth, or alongside a contemporary sofa allow an upholstered period stool to act as a textured accent piece while offering occasional seating.

Maintain timber frames by applying natural beeswax periodically and avoiding direct heat sources, while gently cleaning fabric upholstery with a soft brush attachment.
