Treen refers to small, functional wooden domestic objects made by turning, carving, or joining wood, popular from the 16th century through the Victorian era.

These items were typically lathe-turned from dense hardwoods such as fruitwood, lignum vitae, or boxwood, featuring a rounded base resembling a bun.

Authentic pieces exhibit tool marks from manual lathe-turning, natural patina, shrinkage cracks, and wear consistent with age and use.

They can be displayed on mantelpieces, sideboards, or open shelving to introduce organic texture and historical character to a space.

Maintain them by keeping away from direct heat sources and moisture, occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to protect the dry wooden surface.
