Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating during the British Regency era in the early 19th century, linen presses were designed to store household linens flat on interior sliding trays, eventually evolving to accommodate hanging garments as fashion changed.

These pieces are typically constructed from solid timber frames with figured mahogany or flame mahogany veneers, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers and pegged mortise and tenon joints in the primary frame.

Authenticity is indicated by period-correct secondary woods like pine or oak inside the drawers, hand-carved or turned wooden drawer linings, hand-cut dovetailing, original brass hardware, and natural oxidisation within the timber grain.

Pair the rich wood tones with neutral wall colours, minimalist contemporary lighting, and unadorned architectural spaces to let the natural figuring of the timber serve as a focal point.

Maintain a stable indoor climate away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, and occasionally apply microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the polished wooden surface.
