Anglo-Indian furniture refers to pieces crafted in India during the British colonial period, typically combining traditional Indian woodworking techniques and motifs with British furniture forms to suit colonial tastes.

These pieces are predominantly constructed from dense tropical hardwoods such as teak, padouk, or rosewood, featuring intricate hand-carved detailing, mortise and tenon joinery, and glazed doors.

Authenticity is identified through traditional hand-tool marks, regional wood species, period-appropriate hardware, hand-carved motifs reflecting local artisan traditions, and natural ageing of the timber.

Pair the rich wood tones with neutral wall colours and modern minimalist seating to allow the intricate carvings and historical character to serve as a focal point in the room.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and periodically treat the timber with microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood without leaving a heavy residue.
