This Georgian silver caddy spoon takes the form of an acorn with a fluted bowl and a short handle. The piece is fashioned from sterling silver with a bright reflective silver finish, displaying visible surface scratches, minor indentations, and light tarnishing around the recessed hallmarks stamped onto the handle. The bowl is shaped like an acorn nut, featuring vertical fluting on its lower half resembling the cap of an acorn, and smooth curved metal on top. Four individual stamped British hallmarks are visible on the flat terminal of the short handle, including a profile head, a lion passant, a date letter, and maker's initials. Measuring 70 mm in length, the spoon is suitable for display on a sideboard top in an English country house setting or for use alongside a traditional tea service.

A Georgian silver caddy spoon is a small, specialised utensil produced during the Georgian era (17141837) specifically for measuring loose tea leaves from a tea caddy into a teapot.

These spoons were predominantly wrought from solid sterling silver, featuring official hallmarks, hand-fluted or chased bowls, and pressed or engraved motifs.

Authentic examples display official British hallmarksincluding the lion passant, makers mark, town mark, and date letteralongside short handles and period-typical bowl forms like acorns or shells.

Style the spoon flat inside a glazed cabinet, arranged on a silver tray atop a sideboard alongside period tea accessories, or presented within a fabric-lined shadow box.

Polish gently using a soft microfibre cloth and specialised silver cream, avoiding harsh abrasive chemicals that could erase delicate surface detailing or hallmarks.
