Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Introduced in the late eighteenth century during the Georgian period, caddy spoons were designed specifically to scoop loose tea leaves from a tea caddy into a teapot. Due to the high value of tea at the time, these scoops were crafted to fit neatly inside tea chests and caddies.

Georgian caddy spoons were predominantly wrought from sterling silver, hallmarked by silversmiths across major assay offices such as London, Birmingham, and Sheffield. Some examples featured horn, mother-of-pearl, or ivory handles attached to silver bowls.

Authentic Georgian examples typically feature British hallmarks including the monarchs profile duty mark, a lion passant standard mark, a town mark, and a makers mark. Construction features often include bright-cut engraving, hand-chased shell shapes, or fluted die-stamped bowls.

Small silver collectibles can be displayed on a tray upon a sideboard, curated inside a glass dome or shadow box, or arranged as part of a formal tea service set on display shelves.

Clean silver gently using a soft cloth with a mild silver polish formulated to remove oxidisation. Avoid harsh chemical dips or abrasive scourers, and store pieces in anti-tarnish cloth bags away from direct humidity.
