Edwardian jewellery, produced during the reign of King Edward VII (19011910), is characterised by light, airy motifs, frequent use of platinum and gold, and delicate openwork designs often incorporating diamonds and pearls.

Pendants from this era commonly utilised 15-carat or 9-carat gold, platinum-topped settings, and precious gemstones such as opals, diamonds, sapphires, and pearls.

Authentic pieces typically feature period-appropriate hallmarks, hand-cut gemstones such as old mine or old European cuts, and fine millegrain detailing around the metal edges.

Historic pendants can be suspended from contemporary fine chains to contrast eras, or worn with minimalist attire to allow the intricate craftsmanship to remain the focal point.

Opals are relatively soft and porous stones that require gentle cleaning with a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
