Georgian glass encompasses the period from 1714 to 1830, characterised by specific taxation laws on glass sold by weight, leading to distinctive vessel forms and optical effects.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead glass or lime glass using techniques such as mould-blowing, wheel-engraving, and applied handles.

Authentic items often feature pontil marks on the base, characteristic tool marks, wear consistent with age, and specific historical decorative motifs like floral wheel-engravings.

Displaying historical glassware on open shelving, within a glazed cabinet, or utilising it as a vessel for small botanical stems brings historic texture into modern schemes.

Clean antique glass exclusively by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden temperature changes.
