A mallet decanter features a distinct tapered, cylindrical body shaped like a mallet, designed specifically to fit securely in bottle bins or ship stands during the 18th century.

These vessels were typically mouth-blown from lead glass or soda glass, often featuring applied glass rings on the neck and hand-ground stoppers tailored to individual bottle necks.

Authentic pieces often display a pontil mark on the base from the glassblowing process, hand-cut or ringed necks, and minor wear scratches consistent with age and use.

Antique glass pieces add texture and historical contrast when displayed on sideboards, open shelving, or bar carts, catching light through their clear or tinted compositions.

Wash gently by hand using warm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives and extreme temperature changes, and store with the stopper slightly ajar to prevent moisture trapping.
