Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

During the Victorian era, open salt cellars were an essential component of formal dining, used to hold and display salt before the invention of free-flowing table salt in the 20th century.

They were typically crafted using sterling silver via casting, piercing, and chased decoration, and paired with blown cobalt blue glass liners to protect the metal from corrosion.

Authentic pieces feature clear British hallmarks including a date letter, lion passant for sterling silver, makers mark, and assay office symbol, alongside characteristic hand-finished detailing.

They can be repurposed as small decorative vessels on a mantelpiece, used to hold rings on a dressing table, or integrated into a sophisticated tablescape.

Silver should be cleaned gently with a specialist non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage patination and vintage glass liners.
