Description

Super quality and very elegant antique Regency rosewood two door side cabinet chiffonier with a fabulous rich colour throughout, brass grilled glazed doors and with a working lock and key, circa 1830 in good condition.

Great to use as a drinks cabinet, adjustable bookcase or a useful storage piece without compromising on style!

The glazed doors are newly lined with a neutral fabric, but it is no problem to change this fabric if you would rather a different colour etc…please get in touch.

This is just a little wider than usual, but being slim it retains a light feel.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Regency furniture, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1830, is characterised by classical proportions, neoclassical motifs, and inspiration drawn from ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt.

Cabinet makers of this period heavily favoured exotic imported timbers like rosewood and mahogany, frequently complemented by brass inlay, gilt mounts, and brass wire grilles.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber construction methods, hand-cut dovetails, original brass hardware, and the characteristic density and grain structure of period hardwoods like rosewood.

Pairing dark exotic wood with minimalist modern decor, neutral walls, and contemporary lighting allows the classical proportions and rich grain of the antique piece to serve as a focal point.

Maintain antique rosewood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and nourish the surface periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
