Double-ended scent bottles feature two compartments accessed from opposite ends, typically utilised in the Victorian era to hold two different fragrances or a combination of perfume and smelling salts.

These items were predominantly crafted from blown or moulded coloured glass, such as ruby or cranberry glass, and fitted with hallmarked sterling silver or plated metal caps.

Authenticity is generally determined by examining the hand-cut facets of the glass, the presence of genuine silver hallmarks on the mounts, and appropriate wear consistent with nineteenth-century manufacture.

This piece can be displayed on a vanity tray, mantelpiece, or bookshelf to add a touch of historical colour and texture to a styled interior display.

Clean the glass gently using a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals, and polish the silver mounts sparingly with a non-abrasive cloth to preserve the metal.
