Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Pine trunks were traditionally used for storage and transport of household goods, blankets, and clothing from the 18th century onwards. Stripping them to reveal the natural grain became popular in the mid-20th century to achieve a more relaxed, country aesthetic.

These trunks are typically constructed from solid deal or yellow pine, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints at the corners for strength, and often include wrought iron or brass carrying handles and hinges.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of age such as hand-cut dovetails, handmade nails, tongue-and-groove baseboards, and historical tool marks or uneven grain patterns consistent with pre-industrial woodworking techniques.

An antique pine trunk works well as a coffee table in a living room, at the foot of a bed for extra linen storage, or as an accent piece in a hallway to ground contemporary spaces with natural texture.

Maintain antique pine by dusting with a dry cloth and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the wood. Avoid placing the trunk in direct sunlight or near heat sources to prevent warping and cracking.
