Georgian glassware, produced during the reigns of George I through George IV, is characterised by heavy lead metal composition, hand-blown manufacturing techniques, and often features wheel-cut or diamond-engraved ornamentation.

These pieces were typically crafted using heavy flint glass, commonly known as lead glass, which provided greater clarity, weight, and durability compared to contemporary continental glass.

Authentication involves examining the pontil mark on the underside of the base, checking for the characteristic greyish tone and weight of lead glass, and observing tool marks or slight imperfections indicative of hand-blowing.

Antique stemware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets or styled thoughtfully on open shelving, adding historical depth and textural contrast to contemporary living spaces.

Historic glassware should be washed exclusively by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and dishwashers to prevent thermal shock and chemical etching.
