Enamelled glass perfume bottles gained significant popularity during the 19th century, particularly within European glassmaking centres such as Bohemia, France, and Victorian Britain. Artisans used opaque and coloured enamels to create raised, vibrant floral and geometric motifs directly onto the glass surface.

These pieces typically feature blown or moulded clear or coloured glass decorated with vitresous enamel paints, often accented with gilt or gold leaf detailing. The stoppers are hand-ground to fit snugly into the neck of each specific bottle.

Authentic antique pieces display signs of age such as minor surface wear on the base, hand-applied enamel with slight tactile relief, and ground glass stoppers that show characteristic hand-fitting irregularities rather than uniform machine moulding.

They can be displayed on mirrored vanity trays, open glass shelving, or dressing tables to introduce subtle colour, historical texture, and reflective light into a contemporary bedroom or bathroom scheme.

Clean them gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to avoid damaging the delicate enamel and gilt details. Never submerge painted glassware in water or use harsh chemical cleaners, as this can degrade the historical pigments.
