The George III period spans from 1760 to 1820, characterised by classical proportions, neoclassical influence, and refined craftsmanship in both furniture and silverware.

Authentic pieces from this era were typically forged from solid sterling silver, stamped with official assay office hallmarks indicating purity, makers marks, and the year of production.

Authentication relies on identifying clear hallmarks including the standard mark (such as the lion passant for sterling), the town mark, the date letter, and the makers stamp.

Antique silver items can be displayed on open shelving, dining tables, or sideboards to add historic contrast and polished metallic texture to contemporary spaces.

Maintain antique silver by storing it in tarnish-resistant cloths, cleaning gently with non-abrasive silver polish only when necessary, and avoiding harsh chemical dips.
