Edwardian silverware typically features lighter, more delicate ornamentation than heavy Victorian pieces, often drawing inspiration from earlier eighteenth-century neoclassical and rococo revivals.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, often shaped using traditional techniques such as hammering, spinning, and detailed repousse or chasing by hand.

Authenticity is verified by examining official British hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include a city assay mark, a date letter corresponding to the Edwardian period (1901-1910), and a sterling standard mark.

An antique silver dish can be displayed on a sideboard or coffee table to introduce reflective metallic texture, contrasting sharply against modern minimalist surfaces or natural wood.

Antique silver should be cleaned infrequently using a non-abrasive silver polish and a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh dips that can strip desirable patination and historical oxidisation.
