Bonbon spoons are small serving utensils specifically designed for handling confectionery, sugar plums, and sweets, becoming particularly popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods as part of expanding formal dining rituals.

These items are traditionally crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as casting, piercing, and hand-chasing to create intricate openwork and decorative motifs.

Authentic pieces are identified by examining hallmark stamps, including the makers mark, assay office stamp, standard mark indicating sterling purity, and date letter.

Antique silver can be displayed within glass cabinets, styled on a sideboard tray, or used functionally during formal dining events to add tactile historic character to contemporary spaces.

Preservation involves storing pieces in tarnish-resistant cloth, washing gently with mild soap and warm water when necessary, and avoiding abrasive polishes that wear away fine hallmarks.
