Caddy spoons emerged in the mid-18th century as specialized implements designed to measure loose-leaf tea from a caddy into a teapot, reflecting the high value and social ritual associated with tea at the time.

These items were typically handcrafted from sterling silver using techniques such as hammering, casting, and hand-engraving, frequently featuring maker marks and assay office hallmarks.

Authenticity is determined by checking for period-correct hallmarks, makers stamps, tactile weight, hand-worked details, and the characteristic natural patina acquired over centuries of age.

Such miniature silver items can be displayed inside a glass-fronted cabinet, mounted in a small shadow box, or arranged on a silver-plated tray as part of a curated tabletop vignette.

Preserve antique silver by storing it in a dry, tarnish-resistant environment, handling it with clean hands or cotton gloves, and cleaning it sparingly with a non-abrasive silver cloth to protect the underlying metal.
