FAQs

The Corinthian order originates from ancient Greek architecture, characterised by ornate capitals decorated with acanthus leaves, which later experienced major revivals during the Neoclassical and Victorian periods for decorative arts and lighting.

Traditional column lamps are typically constructed using cast brass, bronze, or silver-plated metals combined with solid marble, alabaster, or stone shafts to provide structural weight and aesthetic contrast.

Authentic pieces generally feature heavy cast metal components, period-appropriate wiring methods or converted gas fittings, hand-chased detailing on the capital, and natural wear patterns on the metallic and stone surfaces.

These lamps work effectively as sophisticated task lighting on a mahogany desk, or as ambient accent lighting on a sideboard, paired with a simple silk or linen shade to balance the ornate architectural base.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemical polishes on aged brass or silver-plated surfaces to preserve the natural patina, and use a damp cloth without abrasive cleaners on stone shafts.
