We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian silverware is characterised by elaborate ornamentation, often drawing inspiration from historic revival movements such as Gothic, Renaissance, and Rococo designs, featuring deep embossing and hand-chased floral motifs.

These pieces were typically crafted from sterling silver, often shaped using traditional spinning or raising techniques, and finished with detailed hand-chasing, repousse work, or engraving by skilled artisans.

Authenticity is verified through hallmark stamps, which typically include a makers mark, a standard mark indicating sterling purity, a town mark, and a date letter corresponding to the British assay office records.

An antique silver vessel can be utilised as a striking decorative accent on a mantelpiece or sideboard, contrasting effectively against minimalist surfaces or serving as a refined container for dried botanicals.

Antique silver requires gentle cleaning with a specialised, non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to remove tarnish while preserving the original patina and fine details of the metalwork.
