FAQs

Neoclassical column lamps draw inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman architecture, gaining popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries as archaeological discoveries fueled a revival in classical design.

These pieces are typically crafted using traditional foundry techniques such as sand casting or lost-wax casting, utilising metals like bronze, brass, or spelter, often finished with a dark patination.

Authentic period pieces usually exhibit heavy construction, hand-filed chasing on the metalwork, natural wear and oxidisation in the patina, and historical wiring components that indicate age.

Pairing these classical lamps with modern, clean-lined furniture creates a sophisticated contrast, whilst placing them on sideboards or desks adds height, structure, and focal lighting to a room.

Dust the surface gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid chemical polishes or abrasive cleaners, which can strip away the valuable historical patina accumulated over decades.
