Art Nouveau emerged in the late 19th century, characterised by organic motifs, asymmetrical lines, and fluid forms inspired by natural phenomena such as plants and flowers.

These decorative items frequently utilised moulded or blown glass, applied enamel, hand-painted details, and gilded metal accents to achieve rich textures and vibrant colours.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-applied enamelling with raised tactile qualities, slight imperfections from historic manufacturing techniques, and natural wear consistent with age.

Such small decorative objects work effectively when placed on dressing tables, mantelpieces, or open shelving to introduce a touch of historic colour and tactile craftsmanship.

Maintain pieces away from direct sunlight to prevent colour fading, dust gently with a soft dry cloth, and avoid liquid cleaners that might damage delicate surface gilding.
