Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often moved away from heavy Victorian ornamentation towards lighter, more graceful designs influenced by earlier periods such as Sheraton and Chippendale, while incorporating functional architectural forms.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, often featuring mortise and tenon joinery, dovetail joints on drawers where applicable, and hand-rubbed wax finishes to protect and enhance the natural grain.

Authenticity can be determined by examining construction methods such as hand-cut joints, original backboards made of secondary timbers, authentic hardware, natural patina, and characteristic tool marks consistent with early twentieth-century cabinet making.

This piece can be integrated into contemporary spaces by contrasting its traditional wooden tones with minimalist decor, using the open shelves to display curated collections of books and ceramics, or placing it in an empty corner to add vertical warmth and architectural interest.

To preserve antique wood, keep the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or warping, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply a high-quality microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the surface.
