We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. FAQs

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in the late 19th century, emphasising handcrafted workmanship, traditional construction methods, and simple forms inspired by medieval and vernacular styles.

Furniture from this period predominantly utilised solid native timbers such as oak, chestnut, and elm, often left in a natural finish or darkened with wax to highlight the grain.

Authentic pieces typically feature visible joinery such as mortise and tenon joints, honest construction without excessive ornamentation, and sometimes maker stamps or retailer marks like those from Liberty & Co.

Such pieces provide functional surface space and warmth, pairing well with contemporary minimalist decor to create a balanced contrast between old and new textures.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat it periodically with natural beeswax to nourish the timber and prevent drying.
