Edwardian novelty pen wipes were whimsical desk accessories produced during the early 20th century, often fashioned into miniature everyday objects to remove excess ink from dip pens.

These desk items typically combined solid sterling silver frames with internal absorbent pads made from felt, velvet, or bristle brush materials to safely clean steel nibs.

Authenticity is verified by examining the hallmarks for the assay office, date letter, and makers mark stamped directly onto the silver, alongside period-appropriate construction methods.

These small pieces function effectively as cabinet curiosities or desktop accents within a traditional study or library setting.

Silver components should be maintained using a specialist non-abrasive silver cloth to prevent damage to the hallmarks, while internal fabric or bristle sections require dry dusting only.
