Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian novelty sterling silver desk seal is a functional desk accessory crafted during the early 20th century, often featuring figurative forms such as jesters, animals, or characters to combine practical correspondence utility with whimsical decoration.

These desk items were typically cast or repousse-formed using sterling silver, containing 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for structural integrity, often incorporating detailed hand-chasing and engraved matrix bases.

Authentic British Edwardian sterling silver features a set of official hallmarks: the lion passant indicating purity, an assay office town mark, a specific date letter code, and a registered silversmiths makers mark.

An antique silver seal serves as a refined accent piece when positioned on an office desk, displayed atop a stack of leather journals, or arranged within a glass display cabinet alongside traditional stationery.

Preserve sterling silver by wiping gently with a soft microfibre cloth and specialised silver polish, avoiding harsh chemical dip solutions that can strip original chasing detail or natural dark oxidisation.
