Art Deco jewellery, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by geometric lines, symmetrical patterns, stylised motifs, and a strong modernist influence that broke away from the flowing curves of the preceding Edwardian and Art Nouveau periods.

Jewellery from this era frequently utilised platinum, yellow gold, and white gold, often set with diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds, with special emphasis on distinctive cuts such as old European, old mine, and cabochon.

Authentic pieces typically feature period-appropriate metal fabrication, hand-cut gemstones with unique facets or optical properties like asterism in star sapphires, and subtle wear consistent with age, alongside appropriate hallmarks where applicable.

An antique cocktail ring serves as a striking statement piece that can add historic character and distinctive colour to contemporary minimalist ensembles or complement evening attire with vintage flair.

Regular professional inspections of the setting integrity are recommended, alongside gentle cleaning with warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoiding harsh chemical ultrasonic cleaners particularly for treated or organic gems.
