Edwardian silver baskets gained popularity during the early 20th century, reflecting the ornate yet refined tastes of the Edwardian era, often used for serving sugar, sweets, or fruit on formal dining tables.

These items typically feature sterling silver frames created through piercing, casting, and soldering, frequently paired with blown coloured glass liners such as cobalt blue or cranberry glass.

Authentic pieces are identified by hallmarks stamped on the silver, indicating the makers mark, assay office, standard mark (such as the lion passant for sterling), and a date letter corresponding to the Edwardian years (1901-1910).

This piece can be styled on a sideboard, coffee table, or open shelving as a decorative accent, combining historical character with modern minimalist displays.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a specialized silver cloth or mild, non-abrasive silver polish, avoiding harsh chemicals and protecting the glass liner from thermal shock during washing.
