The Art Nouveau style emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, characterised by fluid, organic lines, asymmetrical floral patterns, and motifs inspired by natural forms.

Edwardian salt cellars were typically crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as stamping, repousse, and detailed chasing, often paired with fitted velvet or satin-lined presentation cases.

Authenticity is verified by examining the British hallmarks, which typically include a makers mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, the town mark for the assay office, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year.

Antique silver pieces can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, on sideboards, or utilised functionally on dining tables to introduce historical craftsmanship and metallic sheen to contemporary spaces.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth or specialist polish to remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip away desirable original patination.
