Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often lighter in weight and colour than heavy Victorian pieces, frequently drew inspiration from 18th-century Sheraton and Chippendale designs.

Cabinet makers of this era typically used mahogany, satinwood, and walnut, frequently incorporating delicate marquetry, contrasting stringing, and brass castors for mobility.

Authentic pieces generally feature traditional joinery such as dovetails, genuine inlaid wood rather than printed veneers, and a heavy cast-iron or steel rotational mechanism beneath the base.

This piece functions effectively placed beside an armchair or sofa to provide accessible book storage while introducing warm wood tones and classical craftsmanship to contemporary spaces.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, and apply occasional coats of microcrystalline wax to nourish the surface.
