Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Neoclassical table lamp dates from 1910 and brings traditional character to a gentleman's library or sideboard top. The design combines a fluted green shaft with a cast brass Corinthian capital at the top and a stepped square base below. A pleated grey fabric shade sits above the column, diffusing light downwards. The metal components display polished gold tones alongside the dark green body and pale grey fabric. Rewired and tested, the lamp operates on electricity and stands ready for placement in an interior scheme. Dimensions measure 44 cm high, 15 cm wide, and 15 cm deep. Position this piece on a side table, desk, or chest of drawers to introduce period style and task illumination to a living space or study. The combination of classical architectural motifs and practical modern conversion makes it a functional addition to both traditional and eclectic interiors. Care involves gentle dusting of the pleated shade and occasional polishing of the brass elements to maintain their bright finish.

FAQs

A Corinthian column table lamp features a base modelled after classical Greek and Roman Corinthian architectural columns, characterised by fluted shafts and intricate acanthus leaf capitals.

These lamps are typically constructed from cast or spun brass, bronze, stone, or painted metal columns set upon stepped square plinths.

Authentic period pieces feature heavy cast metal construction, detailed acanthus moulding on the capital, solid stepped bases, and natural surface oxidisation or patina.

Place the lamp on a sideboard, desk, or console table alongside modern art or clean-lined furniture to create an intentional structural contrast between classical and contemporary elements.

Dust the brass base regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid abrasive chemical cleaners that could damage lacquered surfaces or natural patina.
