A ring tree is a small decorative stand designed to hold rings on upright prongs above a small dish or tray. They gained significant popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian periods as dressing table accessories for safekeeping daily jewellery.

Edwardian ring trees were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, often utilising casting techniques for figural elements such as animals or hands, combined with hand-hammered or chased sheet metal for the base trays.

Authenticity is verified by examining the hallmarks stamped into the silver, which indicate the assay office, standard of silver (such as the lion passant for sterling), and the date letter corresponding to the early 20th century.

An antique ring tree can be styled on a modern bedroom dressing table, a bathroom vanity unit, or a bedside cabinet as both a functional piece for holding jewellery and a decorative metallic accent.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a soft microfibre cloth and a specialist silver polish specifically formulated for antiques, avoiding abrasive brushes or harsh chemical dips that can damage hallmarks and fine details.
