We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian sterling silver is characterised by intricate ornamentation, heavy gauges of metal, and adherence to traditional hallmarking standards regulated by the British assay offices.

These pieces are typically crafted from solid sterling silver (925 standard), often utilising techniques such as hand-engraving, piercing, casting, and traditional silversmithing forging methods.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped into the metal, which typically include a makers mark, a standard mark (such as a lion passant for sterling), a city assay mark, and a date letter.

Antique silver pieces add a layer of historic texture when displayed in silver display cabinets, utilised on sideboards, or incorporated into contemporary table settings for formal dining.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using non-abrasive silver polishes and soft cloths, and stored in tarnish-resistant environments away from direct moisture and humidity.
