A Georgian chest is a lidded storage box of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, made to hold linen, blankets, valuables or plate before drawers and wardrobes were common in the house.
Oak is named in more Sellingantiques titles than any other timber here, and the coffer and the mule chest are the two commonest shapes.
